About Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage is a therapeutic technique that targets the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue to relieve chronic pain, muscle tension, and muscle stiffness. This treatment uses firm pressure and slow strokes to break down muscle knots, improve circulation, and promote muscle recovery.
Key Benefits of Deep Tissue Massage:
- Pain Relief: Ideal for back pain, neck pain, and sports injuries.
- Muscle Tension Reduction: Reduces deep-seated tension and helps with tight muscles.
- Improved Circulation: Enhances blood flow and promotes healing.
- Recovery from Injury: Speeds up recovery from chronic injuries.
- Stress Relief: Eases overall tension and promotes relaxation.
What to Expect
During a deep tissue massage, your therapist uses firm, sustained pressure and slow strokes to reach the deeper muscle layers — you may feel some discomfort as tight areas are released, and slight soreness for a day or two afterwards is completely normal. This makes it best suited to people with chronic tension, athletes, or anyone who finds a lighter massage doesn’t quite reach the source of their pain. Let your therapist know your pressure tolerance before the session begins.
If you’d like to ease in more gently, hot stone massage offers similar muscle relief with less intensity, or try infrared lamp therapy beforehand to help warm up tight muscles first.
